The Biophilic series is the result of Gabriela's most recent research approaching the fragile relationship between nature and culture, converging sculptural thinking with the ancestral practice of ceramics. From interferences in porcelain clay, Gabriela bathes sets of plants and organic materials collected throughout the city and forests and inserts them into the ceramic processes. From this invoice, an authorial language emerges that subtly manipulates natural forms to sculpt fluid and organic pieces that challenge the rigidity of traditional ceramics, and ours. As the object happens, it will be careful, directed and even patched. Reacting to the flow of form, without imposing, adjusting the pieces. The results are sculptural and surprising. Experiments that defy gravity and seem to come from another world. They evoke underwater emotions, where density is muted. Painting is sensitive to textures. The finish highlights the weaknesses, embracing the grooves of the time. A série Biophilics é resultado da pesquisa mais recente de Gabriela e tensiona a frágil relação entre natureza e cultura, convergindo o pensamento escultórico à prática ancestral da cerâmica. A partir de interferências no barro de porcelana, Gabriela banha conjuntos de plantas e materiais orgânicos que coleciona pela cidade e os insere aos processos cerâmicos. Desta fatura, surge uma linguagem autoral que manipula com sutiliza as formas naturais para esculpir peças fluidas e orgânicas que desafiam a rigidez da cerâmica tradicional, e a nossa. À medida que o objeto vai acontecendo, vai sendo cuidado, direcionado e até remendado. Reagindo ao fluxo da forma, sem impor, curando as peças. Os resultados são escultóricos e surpreendentes. Experimentos que desafiam a gravidade e parecem vir de outro mundo. Evocam emoções subaquáticas, onde a densidade emudece. A pintura é sensível às texturas. O acabamento exalta as fragilidades, assumindo as ranhuras do tempo.
